About This Speaker
Emma Maltais made her Olympic debut at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, where she helped Canada win gold. Emma first joined the Canadian national program in 2015 as a member of the U18 team. In 2018, she skated with the U22 national development team and competed in the Nations Cup. Then in 2019, Emma was named to play with the national women’s team in a series against the United States. She made her debut at the IIHF Women’s World Championships in 2021, playing in five games as Canada won its first world title in almost a decade.
Emma is a graduate of Ohio State University with a masters in Bioethics. She also earned her undergraduate degree in Health Sciences. In 2021, she earned the role of team captain and was named an All-American Scholar. In 2022, she became the school record holder for career points.
Emma Maltais is leading the charge to inspire the next generation of female hockey players as a marquee player in the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL). She was drafted 11th overall in 2023 to the Toronto Sceptres and scored the 1st short-handed goal in league history, indicative of her high-energy, physical style of play.
