Book Celina Caesar-Chavannes, Business Strategy Speaker

About This Speaker

Celina Caesar-Chavannes is a visionary leader at the intersection of neuroscience, leadership, and social transformation. She is a PhD candidate in Neuroscience at Queen’s University, where her research explores how cognitive and emotional processes shape leadership and decision-making. Through The Awakened Leadership Institute (TALI), which she founded in 2024, Celina applies these insights to help people and organizations lead with self-awareness, authenticity, and well-being.

Before entering politics, Celina founded Resolve Research Solutions Inc., a consulting firm that improved outcomes for people with neurological conditions. Later, she served as Member of Parliament for Whitby, including roles as Parliamentary Secretary to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and to the Minister of International Development. Her fearless advocacy for mental health, equity, and social justice gained recognition from O (Oprah) Magazine, Chatelaine, and other national and international outlets.

Celina holds an Executive MBA from the Rotman School of Management, an MBA in Healthcare Management, and a BSc in Human Biology. She is also a certified health and meditation coach. Her best-selling memoir, Can You Hear Me Now? (Random House Canada) and her speaking engagements at the United Nations, Harvard University, and global forums highlight her expertise in neuroscience, leadership, and inclusion.

Her PLAY for Leaders framework redefines “play” as a leadership skill rooted in neuroscience. Built on Purpose, Learning, Authenticity, and Yes, it helps leaders build clarity, trust, and resilience in times of change.

The Play Paradigm™: Redefining Power and Influence

For most leaders, the problem isn’t just burnout: it’s rigidity. Add to this the fact that most leadership models are designed for control, not creativity, and you see why hybrid and virtual teams struggle to feel connected. The result is predictable: organizations lose innovation, trust, and resilience. Neuroscience shows us another way. Play is not about fun and games, but about restoring cognitive flexibility, catalyzing authentic connection, and enabling people to show up fully. Drawing from research with women leaders, neuroscience, and lived experience in politics and business, I demonstrate how play operationalizes influence, and how leaders can embed it with intention, even in digital or hybrid workspaces. Outcomes • A science-backed case for play as a leadership lever for connection and trust. • A practical Spiral of Leadership tool to show ascent vs. descent in decision-making. • Three “micro-plays” teams can use immediately to increase resilience and creativity. Ideal Audience: Exec teams, transformation leaders, innovation units, people & culture

The Neuroscience of Courageous Leadership: From Dissonance to Flow

When values and reality collide, leaders enter moments of cognitive dissonance that result in tunnel vision, reactivity, stalled decisions. This is where teams lose courage, creativity, and clarity. The credibility of the Habit loop Framework introduced here is rooted in neuroscience. The brain has specific “alarm” and “reframe” systems that can be trained, but too often leaders default to pressure rather than alignment. In this talk, I translate brain science into plain language and daily leadership practice, showing how to turn dissonance into flow. Leaders leave with tools to recognize the alarm, reframe under pressure, and build courageous clarity into their teams. Outcomes • A practical map for diagnosing and resolving dissonance on teams. • A “habit loop” framework to identify → interrupt → reframe → act with confidence. • Meeting and communication design tweaks that reduce reactivity and improve decision quality. Ideal Audience: Fast-growth companies, post-merger integrations, public sector change leaders

Play at Work: How Authenticity Scales Performance

Organizations lose more than morale when employees hold back their true selves. They lose creativity, innovation, and ethical clarity. However, we often find that people aren’t speaking up, even when it matters most. But the research is clear, and it shows that authenticity reduces cognitive load, raises decision quality, and strengthens ethical courage. So, when leaders operationalize authenticity, inclusion moves from a value statement to a daily operating system. This talk shows how to enable authenticity as a performance strategy by unlocking hidden capacity across teams and sectors, especially in high-stakes environments. Outcomes • A 30-day authenticity protocol leaders can pilot immediately. • The “Trust Triad” (credibility, empathy, authenticity) explained through neuroscience and applied in practice. • Metrics and tools to measure cultural lift without performative checklists. Ideal Audience: CHROs, DEI/Leadership partners, health/education leaders, financial services

Executive Playbook for VUCA: Make Calm Contagious

Volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity aren’t buzzwords — they are the daily operating environment. As such, leaders who react to chaos spread chaos. However, neuroscience and leadership research show that calm is not a personality trait but a trainable capacity. If leaders can learn to regulate their nervous systems, set boundaries that empower rather than constrain, and make calm contagious across their organizations - this transforms chaos into calm, clear, credible action. This talk provides the drills and rituals that stabilize performance when stakes are highest. Outcomes • A 5-minute nervous-system reset leaders can teach and cascade through teams. • A “Brief the Brain” playbook for high-stakes meetings and negotiations. • How to create structural guardrails that build freedom, not control. Ideal Audience: Ops, sales leadership, emergency services, utilities, energy, public safety

The Spiral of Play: Designing Careers You Don’t Need to Escape

The career ladder is outdated. Rigid career paths leave people — especially women, Black professionals, and entrepreneurs — burned out and boxed in. My PhD research shows that careers are spirals, not ladders, and that pivots toward sovereignty, rest, or entrepreneurship can actually accelerate growth. By using the Slide/Sandbox/Swing framework, leaders and individuals can architect careers aligned with values and seasons, without losing financial momentum or dignity. This talk gives permission and practical tools to design work on your own terms. Outcomes • “Season mapping” tools to time pivots strategically. • A risk/return matrix for career moves (“heads I win, tails I don’t lose much”). • Coaching prompts leaders can use to retain top talent through change. Ideal Audience: Women’s leadership programs, ERGs, entrepreneur networks (YPO, EO), universities, chambers of commerce
